Hythe

Hythe
Hythe is a beautiful historic town. It is one of the five Cinque Ports, the charter was granted to Hythe in 1278. Among the history of the town is the Royal Military Canal which was built as a defence to withstand an invasion by Napoleon. Nowadays the canal is beautiful to walk along or even go for a boat ride on. It is the venue for the Hythe Venetian fete floating carnival in late August.

Hythe High Street is filled with an array of interesting shops, offering a wide range of quality goods, and a large variety of restaurants and pubs.

Hythe is also one of the stops for the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway which runs one-third scale passenger steam trains across 15 miles of track between Hythe and Dungeness.
